Sarah-Anne is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography and Planning at the University of Toronto. Her research interests lie in rural, remote, and northern planning, with a particular focus on community-based approaches to development and resilience.

Building on her MSc in Rural Planning and Development, Sarah-Anne has worked with communities in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Ontario to examine the social and infrastructural dimensions of climate change planning. Sarah-Anne’s doctoral work extends into the emerging field of textile geographies, where she investigates rural and remote economic development through material and cultural practices of textile production. Her interdisciplinary research bridges geography, planning, and design, aiming to foreground community knowledge and local capacity in shaping northern futures.
